What is Latisse®?

Latisse contains the active ingredient bimatoprost ophthalmic solution. This is an ingredient found in a drug called Lumigan used to treat glaucoma. Patients using Lumigan noticed the side effect of longer, darker, more lush lashes.

Latisse is the only FDA-approved lash growth serum on the market.

You apply Latisse to your upper lash line on a schedule recommended by Dr. Williams – usually

once per day before bed.

When will I see results from Latisse?

The lash growth results of Latisse usually take several weeks to show up. The life cycle of an eyelash is two months, so your lashes need this time to grow. Optimal results are noticeable after about four months of use. Dr. Williams puts you on a regular treatment schedule.

Latisse does not permanently improve your eyelash length and fullness. If you stop using Latisse, your lashes return to their original appearance after a few months.

Who is a candidate for Latisse?

Latisse is approved for people 18 and older. The drug is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Latisse can be used by patients who wear contact lenses. Dr. Williams recommends that you wait 15 minutes after Latisse application to put your contact lenses in.

If you have sensitive skin, talk to Dr. Williams about the possible side effects of using Latisse. It can cause redness and mild irritation in treatment areas.

Can I wear makeup while using Latisse?

Make sure you remove all traces of the makeup prior to Latisse application. This ensures the medication penetrates the lashes and hair follicles.

How do I apply Latisse?

Use just a few drops of Latisee on an eyeliner-like brush. Starting at the inner corner of your eyelid, glide the brush along the base of your upper lash line towards the outer corner. Apply a thin layer and avoid dripping it all over the eyelid skin or into the eye.
